History of Naval Academy Parents’ Clubs

USNA (United States Naval Academy) parents’ clubs are a unique and wonderful opportunity for parents of midshipmen to support the efforts of the United States Naval Academy Admissions Department. There are currently 83 USNA parents’ clubs in the United States and overseas, with approximately 4,000 total members worldwide. Within New York State, there are 5 USNA parents’ clubs; Central NY, Hudson Valley NY, Long Island, Western NY, and New York City NY.

Our sizes vary based on the needs of the areas we serve. We are formed under the umbrella of the USNA Alumni Association and USNA Foundation, and are encouraged to provide guidance and support to our parent/midshipmen members, as well as interact with our community leaders to promote interest in the academy and information awareness events. For perspective, in 2006, there were only 6 New York City students selected from about 44 applicants for the class of 2010.  This year, over 200 applications were received and 26 students were selected to either enter direct to USNA or go to the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
