Kick-Off is at 11:30 am., but doors open at 11am, so grab that “Mimosa” and be there as we Tailgate & watch Navy Football on Big Screen TVs at “The Three Monkeys Bar”, conveniently Located in Mid-Town Manhattan at: 236 W. 54th Street. (Between Broadway and 8th Avenue).  We’re going to have a great time! Admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Hey, this includes your first drink & all day there will be “Happy Hour” Drink and Food Specials. Come support US!

Grand merriment and goodwill abounded as Midshipmen and Cadets from the United States Naval, Military, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine Academies  joined forces to kick off the holiday season at the Joint Service Academies Ball, held this year on Monday, December 26, 2011.  Academy students were greeted with an unexpected reimbursement of their Ball reservation fee, while guests bidding at the Silent Auction raised an additional sum of money to be donated to the USO and the  Wounded Warrior Project.

Last year, guests were serenaded by a harpist during the reception hour before gathering in the Ballroom for the formal program of toasts, dinner, and an address by United States Army General Peter W. Chiarelli. As the program concluded and the music began, the dance floor was flooded with midshipmen, cadets, parents, grandparents, sponsors, escorts, and siblings mingling amidst the jovial atmosphere.

Because NYC loves ALL Midshipmen.  We want to them to know that we care about them and appreciate the sacrifices they are making on behalf of our country.  We want our members to be great ambassadors of our wonderful state.  Most of us live about a 4-hour drive from USNA.  Getting up early to cook several trays of baked ziti, driving 4 hours to Annapolis, serving hundreds of midshipmen (pinching a cheek or two and doling out liberal hugs, while we’re at it) is something we can do with hardly a sacrifice.  So jump onboard, lend a hand, make your best meal, bake those fabulous cookies and show all of our midshipmen that NYC LOVES OUR MIDS!

We make our own NYC home-cooked meals.  We serve all mids – whether they are from NYC or Toledo, Ohio, because on game day(to us)all mids are from NYC, whether they know it or not.  Send your mid an e-mail and tell him/her to meet you after the game at the tailgate.  Tell them to bring his/her friends and roommates.  They have most likely heard about the NYC tailgater, but… just in case!

At every Navy Home Game, you can come early before the game to help set-up, or you can help out after half-time to get things heated; you can help serve our hungry mids immediately after the game, or you can stick around after to help with the clean-up.  You need not commit to the entire process, we’d love to have your help at any time. We can be found, just Inside gate 2, on the Blue side of the stadium, alongside Farragut Road.  PARKING is outside Gate D on the Navy side of the stadium.  We generally have someone in the lot by 10AM on game day. Looking forward to seeing you there!

The summer also builds the foundation for the tangible and intangible qualities that make an outstanding naval officer.

DARK AGES EVENT Feb 25, 2012 1:30 – 5:30PM

Help break up your Mid’s Dark Ages by assembling “C.A.R.E. packages” for our Midshipmen consisting of cookies and other goodies from a home care package. Bring “Home Baked” cookies, brownies, rice krispy treats, candy, notes of encouragement, etc. to be included in our C.A.R.E. Packages.

Our second most popular event, this is another fun event where there is an opportunity to add a personal note to your Mid’s package. And, the opportunity to socialize with other USNA NYC NAPC families during the doldrums of winter. A real pleasure! See Attachment

2011 All Service Academy Ball

The event honors the young men and women who attend our five U.S. Service Academies and offers an opportunity to meet the dedicated young people who have accepted the difficult military challenges before them.
At the formal event, the attending cadets and midshipmen, along with their escorts, parents and guests, experienced 5-star hotel ambiance, interesting conversations, gourmet dinner and drink, and lively DJ dancing.
The All-Service Academies Ball is made possible by the hard work of Parent Volunteers from each of the 5 U.S. Federal Military Academies (West Point, Navy, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Air Force). Our Parent Volunteer, Mrs. Janice Cannon worked to bring you a unique evening of enjoyment.       Thanks Janice!

Stadium Seat Cheerleader Note . . .

Midshipmen Service Assignment Schedule 2011-2012

The mission of Midshipmen service assignment is to provide the best qualified Midshipmen to fill Navy and Marine Corps accessions  requirements. Service community assignment boards and the Service Assignment Review Board  make recommendations to the Superintendent of those Midshipmen who  are  best qualified  and  projected to  be most successful serving in  each individual community. This process takes into account Midshipmen preferences where practical, but service assignments are ultimately guided by Midshipmen qualifications and the  needs of  the Navy and  U.S.  Service Assignment Timetable 2011-2012

Class of 2013 Sign their Commitment Papers

The Naval Academy Class of 2013 celebrated their commitment to five years of naval service Aug. 23 at a ceremonial dinner held in King Hall.  At the beginning of each academic year, the second class midshipmen sign the paperwork ensuring their obligated service upon graduation and retake the Oath of Office.  The Class of 2013 signed their paperwork Aug. 20 in Laboon Hall. At that time, the midshipmen also signed the Honor Scroll which is displayed in a glass case in Mitscher Hall. The scroll outlines how much money a midshipman’s education costs and what they will have to pay back if they leave service before graduation.

Commandant of Midshipmen Capt. Robert Clark issued the Oath of Office to the midshipmen before the keynote speaker, retired Vice Adm. William Earner (USNA 1963), addressed the midshipmen and guests, including other members of the Class of 1963.
